
So my shin splints finally healed enough that it wasn’t too painful to walk/run.
On Monday, Marvin accompanied me on my long run for the week: 5 miles. It was my first time running again since about a week and half ago. And it was my virgin run on my brand spanking new runnings shoes =)
The run was pretty good. We took it easy.
Distance: 5 miles
Interval: 3:2
Time: 1 hr and 15 mins
Calories Burned: approx. 500
The verdict is still out on my new running shoes. I find that they give fairly good support but I think I might need a bit more cushioning. So they might be going back to the store for a different, more cushiony pair.
I’m going to slowly ease back into things this week. So today and Friday, I plan on doing a 4 mile cross-train on the elliptical and strength training. Tomorrow will be 2 miles on the elliptical and strength training. Saturday will be rest day and Sunday will be my next long run: 6 miles!
