I’ve been digging around for information on registering for the Nike Women’s Run. The fact that the half marathon sells out in 10 hours was really making me anxious about signing up. I really, REALLY want to do it!
Well, yesterday, they released an announcement saying that due to the popularity of the event, they’ve decided to fill their 20,000 spot quota by holding a drawing for all people who register for the race. Basically, if they pick your registration number, you get to run the race.
I don’t know what my exact chances will be for having my number picked, but I’m guessing that a lot of people will be signing up during the registration period and I bet that my chances of being picked are probably very slim. It’s unfortunate because I really wanted to do this race, but it would suck to 1) do this half marathon alone, if my friends don’t get picked 2) not get to do a race I really wanted to do, but to live vicariously through one or more of my friends who do get picked.
I’m still mulling over this, but at the same time have started looking for other half marathons that might pique my interest. I’m looking for routes that are really scenic and fun. I was originally looking for a relatively flat and fast course, but since watching the Spirit of the Marathon, I’ve opened myself up to tackling some hills, but nothing very major =)
So far, I’m thinking of maybe doing San Antonio, because it’s a Rock n Roll marathon, which is supposed to be a lot of fun. Plus, Raciel and her sisters will be there. I was also thinking of doing the Santa Barbara one, but that’s in May, training has started, and I’m not ready to start training yet.
So here’s my list of possibilities so far
- San Antonio Rock n Roll Half, November 16
- Big Sur Half Marathon, November 9
haha, I guess that’s it for now =) Still going to poke around and see what’s out there.
