I don’t really know what’s wrong with my legs but ever since I did my 8 mile long run last Monday, I haven’t been able to run more than 3 miles without major calf tightness. The muscle never relaxes, no matter how much I warm up, no matter how much stretching I do. It burns as I run; it’s literally paralyzing. So, I’m taking a rest this week. No running. I’m just going to work on stretching, weights and cross training and hope that I’ll be able to pick things up by this weekend for my next long run (10 miles – eek!).

On the race front, I’ve been looking for potential races I can do later this year and have narrowed it down to five.

1) San Francisco Half, August 3
2) Disneyland Half – August 31
3) Long Beach Half – October 12
4) Big Sur Half – November 9
5) San Antonio Rock n Roll Half - November 16

Right now I’m thinking I could swing the SF Half, but I don’t know if I’ll be in good enough shape for it. Maybe. I can definitely and will probably do the Long Beach half (if you remember, I flaked on this half last year). I’m tossing around doing either Big Sur or San Antonio. I was thinking of doing the Big Sur marathon relay if I could rope my brother, Trang, Nick, and Jo Nisha into forming a relay team. That way each person would run around 5 miles. Then I would be able to do San Antonio with Raciel =) We’ll see! It’s all kinda up in the air now. I have to re-formulate my training plan now with these past 2 weeks of unscheduled rest. I feel like such a slug already!
