With work being all crazy and well… crazy, I didn’t manage to do my Thursday tempo run until Saturday. My goal for was to do 1 mile at an 11:45min/mile pace. I know that normally tempos are suppose to be over 20 minutes long to be beneficial, which is why I got all over-ambitious and thought I could do 2 miles instead of just one. But oh how I was wrong!

Maintaining an 11:45 min/mile pace was really difficult for me. I did manage to run 1 mile in 11:44, but that was it =) I didn’t have enough energy left to do another! So sad, I know. But I guess I should just be glad that I did what was scheduled for the week =)

Tonight, I ran my first long run: 2 miles at a 12:30min/mile pace. It was also my FIRST run with my brand new Garmin!!! Oh, how I love theeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.

Thank you again Greg, Tam, Sarah, Jo Nisha and Marvin! I’m enjoying this sooooo much!

So, as I suspected, I’ve been running a lot faster at the onset than I should be, which gets me all tired and super winded toward the end of my run. It’s funny cause I see that I’m running at a 10min/mile pace but it feels so good and natural!…. in the beginning, that is =) And then after I get about 1.35 miles into it, my legs start to feel like lead and the rest of the run is a complete struggle. I really should pay more attention to my pace and not get all over-confident/ambitious with it because honestly… my goal for this training session feels really hard! I don’t know if it’s not having run in a month or if running a 12 min mile really is that much harder for me than running a 13 min mile or a combination of both. But I’m definitely struggling.

The one thing that keeps me going though is that I feel amazing after I’m done. =) So, I guess that’s good!

You go girl!! I think I might need to borrow my sis’ Garmin with HTM (just like yours) cos this Nike+ thingy I’m using isn’t very accurate! So, will Long Beach be your first 1/2 marathon for this year? Keep up the great training! YOU ROCK!

Thanks, Raciel! =) What happened to your Garmin? Is it broken?

LB will be my second half of the year =) my first was Surf City, but I’m not even sure if I should officially count that because it SUCKED ASS. It really won’t be hard to beat my time for that race (3 hr 45 min). Horrible time. I’m aiming for 2.5 hours for LB half =) Hopefully I can stick with my plan and do it!
