My goal today was to do 6 miles at a 12:30 min/mile pace.

Today’s run was A-W-E-S-O-M-E!!!

I haven’t had a run this great in sooooooo long and I’m so glad I had it because I was feeling really discouraged from last Friday’s tempo. I didn’t complete all 6 miles because my Garmin ran out of batteries (my bad) just as I entered my 5th mile. So I just did a cool down for .6 of mile.

What I think made the biggest difference with this run was 1) I tried really hard to be consistent with my pace, which meant finding what I call my sweet spot pace, where I’m completely in the running zone and 2) consistently taking my 1 minute walking breaks every 6 mins (every half a mile).

Here are my splits:

Split 1: 12:24
Split 2: 12:51
Split 3: 12:53
Split 4: 12:39
Split 5: 12:30

Total Running Time: 1:03:03
Average Pace: 12:37 (YAY!!!)
Shoes: Asics Nimbus
Calories Burned: 567

So two minutes of every mile were spent walking. The other 10 minutes were run…. ::drum roll:: get this… at an even 11:30min/mile pace! =O shocker!!! There was only very little struggling, but overall the pace felt comfortable. I felt way better than any of the runs I’ve done during this new training session.

That’s just amazing to me =) So yeah, still slightly missing my mark, but getting closer and closer. I have hope!
