See that section on my sidebar that says “Upcoming Races“?
That’s rights! This girl in pigtails is gonna be running the LA Marathon next year!
I haven’t always wanted to do the LA Marathon. Actually, I’ve had absolutely no desire, at all, to do the LA Marathon. There’s just something about running around in South Central that really doesn’t appeal to me. So when I first started thinking about which marathon I’d like to do next year, I was thinking of doing the Phoenix RnR. It has a lot of things I’m looking for… fun, good crowd support, cool weather. The only thing that, I found, would not end up working out was the timing.
You see, I want a huge PR for my next marathon, so I wanted a good 24 weeks to train for it. I’ve been thinking long and hard about trying out a Pftiz schedule since it seems to be effective and popular. But if I wanted 24 weeks to train, I wouldn’t be able to do the Phoenix RnR.
Then I heard through the grapevine that the Santa Monica city council would be voting on whether to allow the LA Marathon to end at the beach. I was waiting with bated breath to find out. The LA Marathon would fit in perfectly with my schedule! And this morning, it was affirmed.
Next year’s marathon will feature a new Stadium to Sea route, passing through the heart of Los Angeles, West Hollywood, Beverly Hills, and ending just south of a pier in Venice Beach in Santa Monica. AWESOME.

Now who else wants to do the LA Marathon? =)

YEAH! =D I am SO glad that Santa Monica approved it. I think that with a Stadium to Sea route, the LA Marathon may start to make it’s way up there with other big city marathons =)

I might have to finally do the LA Marathon, too! I have to figure out if the Camp Pendleton one is still on, though cos I really want to be a “Legacy Marathoner” in one of those races and Camp Pendleton seems to be the closest I have since I ran the inaugural. :)
