I was just thinking about my goals this year and it made me wonder if I had accomplished all that I wanted to do last year. And wow, I didn’t do a thing!

My 2009 goals were:

1. lose 20lbs by my 30th birthday – totally did NOT do this. In fact, I GAINED weight last year
2. start saving more regularly – uhmmm…. =P
3. find a job and stay there for more than a year =P – ermmmmmm
4. run at least one marathon – so I did do this – San Diego RnR
5. run at least one 5k – nope
6. run at least one 10k – nope
7. run at least the SF half marathon and one other half marathon (not including Surf City) – didn’t run SF, but did run LB and Surf City
8. dip into 10:xx minute miles – HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
9. take one international trip – =(
10. visit a domestic city I’ve never visited – does Alameda count? LOL =)

Ok, so I did accomplish ONE thing. I ran a marathon. But that’s all! Man, that’s just SAD. I really have to work harder to reach all my goals this year. So here they are (with some repeats from last year).

My 2010 goals:

1. lose 20-25lbs this year, hopefully before my before my 31st birthday, but it doesn’t have to be by then
2. build my own practice
3. run at least one marathon – let’s see if this will actually happen!
4. run at least one 5k
5. run at least one 10k
6. run at least 3 half marathons
7. save more money
8. volunteer more
9. apply lotion every night
10. do a better job of keeping in touch with friends
11. be more dedicated to training
12. complete one full cycle of P90X

I’m not sure if I’ll be able to plan any international or domestic trips this year. I guess it all depends on how well I do with building my practice. So, we’ll see =)

I’m really excited to get this year started. It hasn’t been going well on the running front so I’m starting to seriously rethink doing the LA Marathon and looking for another marathon to do. I’m eying the Long Beach marathon for now. I think that a fall marathon would probably be the best for me. I train better when the days are longer and the weather is warmer. The only thing that keeps me hanging on to the idea of doing the LA Marathon is that it’s the inaugural running of this route AND so many of my friends are doing it. ::sigh:: Gonna try to go out for a short run tomorrow. Hopefully my sinuses have cleared up enough for me to breathe like a normal human being.

Good luck with your goals! Keep me informed of what Cali 5k or 10ks you might do. I have a friend that lives out that way & one of my goals is to do a “destination” race this year. :)


Thanks, Melissa! =) You should definitely come to So Cal for your destination race! I usually do the LA Cancer Challenge 5k in October. I sign up with my friend’s sister-in-law’s team and run with them. But I’m thinking about doing a different one this year. I’ll definitely keep you posted!
